Weekly Report & Reflection Post #7

Hello and welcome back to session 7 of ADED 1P32!

For the past few sessions we have been curating, locating, validating, collecting, sharing and evaluating resources we’ve found while researching and exploring! This week my classmates and I all had the opportunity to use Google Docs for our collaborative presentation. Google Docs is an online word processor that allows you to create and format text documents and also lets you collaborate with other people in real time.  With Google Docs you can use keyboard shortcuts, share documents with ease, and shortcut to launch Google Docs or launch a new document in Google Docs. This is such a great tool for us students because it is available at the amazing cost of zero dollars.

Since it is a free program and is available at your fingertips on your Internet browser or smartphone it is easily accessible and will cater to your word processing needs and is a very great choice. My favourite feature of Google Docs was being able to work on my Collaborative Google Docs Group Presentation PowerPoint and having it save automatically after each word and I also liked the fact that I can see which slide my partners were on and what they were writing as they were writing it. Google Docs being introduced to us ADED 1P32 students will help in this course and future because we can do anything from use the basic features of access from any computer to the 7 different file formats.

As for my PLE in regards to Google Docs I will be adding Google Docs to my PLE because I feel in the years to come it will be more popular than Microsoft Office. Since Google Docs is online, free, and can be synchronized across all devices I feel it will be a better fit for students because we are becoming more technological when it comes to learning.

This week my Feedly reader suggested this article to me that I wanted to share with you guys because  our digital world is evolving education wise.

Weekly Report & Reflection Blog Post #6

Welcome to week 6 blogger!

This weeks task of exploring Evernote was definitely an enjoyable one. Evernote is a great research project tool for group work for students and for us ADED 1P32 students it comes in handy for our collaborative research assignments.

With Evernote you can upload hand written notes by scanning or snapshot and you can access your account through your laptop browser as well as your smartphone. This tool also allows you to add videos, photos and tags to your notebooks which is pretty useful and efficient.

After playing around with Evernote for a couple of hours and viewing what my partners have already contributed for our Digital Health and Wellness assignment I am now confident enough to start contributing my own work to this project. So that you can be as ready as I am to start your assignment journey view this video on "Notebook Sharing and Collaboration using Evernote Web".

I will be sure to add Evernote to my PLE and make sure it stands out because after this course I hope to use this to do group work and hopefully to study with my classmates for exams sharing notes and such over the next few years.

Weekly Report & Reflection Blog Post #5

HEY BLOGGERS!
retrieved from: https://twitter.com/twitter
Welcome to Week 5..
This week our task was to create a Twitter account. Luckily for me I have been an active Twitter since November 2010 and I absolutely adore this site. With Twitter you are able to follow your close friends and family or even celebrities to find out what they're doing or what they're into in 140 characters or less. Just like Facebook has the share button Twitter has the "retweet or quote tweet" function so you can share another users tweet with your followers. On my account I recently quote tweeted the Brock Campus Security about the being a responsible drinker this Super Bowl Sunday. Here is the quote tweet.
I prefer to use Twitter than Facebook simply because of the 140 character limit because it makes you get to the point with what you're trying to say instead of going on and on.

Since I've had a twitter account for a long time and I use it on a regular basis it may be a little hard to weed out my ADED 1P32 tweets but using feedly or the lists function on Twitter you can follow and add me to your list #aded1p32 and see what I share with my followers.

During Week 2 when we made our PLNs I included Twitter because in high school my math and religion teachers would use Twitter as a teaching aid with links to help our learning processes. In high school i was also apart of a special program called "Specialist High Skills Major" aka SHSM that would use twitter to inform the students of special events and give us reminders on important dates. If you're interested in what this is about here is the link. Twitter is often used for the social part of peoples live but it can also be used to expand your PLE. You can use Twitter to educate the pubic on various topics. For example I follow the Peel Regional Police because I am originally from the Peel Region and I like to be informed on everything going on back home.

To finish Week 5's post I would like to share a WikiHow article that my Feedly picked out for me with you guys. My week has been overwhelming and stressful so this article came in handy. Click here to read this article on "How To Nap".

Until next week fellow bloggers!
